EFF IT is a live podcast recording at The Phoenix Arts Club, celebrating the moments you stopped asking for permission, stopped people-pleasing and simply decided… EFF IT.

Join bona fide comedy legend Helen Lederer and two very special celebrity guests for an intimate evening of laughter, oversharing and gloriously honest conversation about the moments that nearly broke them or made them, depending on how full you view your glass.

Expect big laughs, bad decisions, honest revelations and, most importantly, WINE.

Helen Lederer has spent a career being on point, on stage and on screen. She did Absolutely Fabulous. She did Saturday Live. She did Celebrity Big Brother. She was shunned by a lady-in-waiting and once became the first stand-up comedian to dive into water wearing a swimming frock for money. She’s also spent a considerable amount of time people-pleasing.

Now, fresh from writing her uncensored memoir Not That I’m Bitter, Helen has finally stopped worrying about what everyone else thinks, and she wants to know when her guests did the same, or whether they have yet to embrace the privilege of not giving one.

What was the moment they finally thought: EFF IT?

Was it walking away from something everyone told them they should want? Taking a risk with no safety net? Surviving a spectacular failure? Ending the wrong relationship? Ignoring advice from someone in power? Or simply realising that being liked by absolutely everyone is both exhausting and impossible?

Together, Helen and her guests will dig into the disasters, wrong turns, terrible reviews, questionable career choices and flashes of recklessness that ultimately helped them become who you see before you on stage. Our gorgeous audience will be invited to submit stories of when they Effed it or Effed up – and our celebrity guest will judge whether they Effed It (good) or Effed Up (bad).  Either way, the coveted Eff It award awaits the winner.

Because success stories are all very well.

But moments you decide not to give an EFF are much more fun. 

EFF IT is about the freedom that comes when you stop asking for permission. It celebrates the messy, funny and occasionally catastrophic journey towards becoming more authentically yourself when the world is trying to steer you otherwise, and the strange truth that sometimes the thing that feels like your biggest failure turns out to be exactly what you needed.

These are people who have been interviewed a million times.

Just not quite like this – as they no longer have any EFF’s left to give.
